“I painted this piece with a lot of time on my hand, so I had a lot of time to work on every detail and feel every brushstroke. This work is part of a series of five works that form the sentence “Why the fuck do old men still rule the world”. I am aware that this is not a very subtle message, but we have been subtle for a long time now. It’s time for a change. Unfortunately I have not been able to finish the series because – funny coincidence – corona forced us to stay home, and since women and childcare were not on any political agenda, I (like most of my peers) was thrown back into the 1950s, with household and childcare dominating my everyday life. That’s exactly what I have been trying to transport with this series… ” – Sabrina Meissner
